New 600-Horsepower 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10


The new 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 boasts more of what performance aficionados crave: kick-in-the-pants, throw- back-in-the-seat power, combined with benchmark braking, world-class ride and handling, a race-inspired interior and bold exterior styling.

While every SRT vehicle offers balanced overall performance, the heart and soul of the new 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 is its standout powertrain. For 2008, SRT ups the ante with a new, 8.4-liter aluminum V-10 engine that produces an astounding 600 horsepower and 560 lb.-ft. of torque.

The new 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 will arrive in Dodge showrooms in North America this summer with a new level of customization options, including five new exterior colors, four new interior color combinations and a new wheel design.


Standout Powertrain


When SRT powertrain engineers set out to get more venom from the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10''s powerplant, their objectives included not only increasing performance, but also complying with stringent regulatory requirements, such as federal Tier 2, Bin 5 and California''s Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV) 2 mandates.


Working with specialists from McLaren Performance Technologies and Ricardo, Inc., SRT engineers began by following the racer''s basic formula for more power: bigger displacement, more efficient breathing and higher engine speed.


The new Dodge Viper SRT10''s deep-skirted V-10 aluminum engine block was revised for a 1-millimeter larger bore, raising the displacement to 8.4 liters from 8.3 liters. With strengthened bulkheads and improved water jackets for better cooling, the block includes pressed-in iron cylinder liners and cross- bolted main bearing caps for strength and durability.


The Viper SRT10''s 8.4-liter engine breathes through new cylinder heads equipped with Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC)-shaped combustion chambers, larger valves and Variable Valve Timing (VVT). VVT electronically adjusts when the exhaust valves are open and closed according to engine speed and load, allowing the engine to "breathe" cleaner and more efficiently.


The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 V-10''s two-piece intake manifold combines a cast aluminum lower with smooth runners for better air flow, bolted to a die- cast aluminum upper plenum. A revised air-cleaner box with a low-restriction filter sends air through a dual electronic throttle control into the intake module.


The air-fuel mixture in the cylinders is ignited by platinum-tip spark plugs fired by new individual plug coils mounted on the cylinder-head covers.


Within the cylinders, pistons are equipped with larger-diameter floating pins with bronze bushings for high-load capability. Forged powder-metal connecting rods are secured with aircraft-quality fasteners for increased fatigue strength.


Engine lubrication is managed by a larger oil pump and a swinging oil pickup adapted from Viper competition engines, to improve oil pressure in high-rpm and hard-cornering conditions.


Spent gases exit through tubular air-gap headers, which not only improve exhaust flow, but also ensure quick catalyst light-off for improved emission control. The headers'' stamped stainless-steel outer shell acts as a thermal heat shield for the individual stainless-steel runners that contribute to better flow separation and exhaust tuning.


SRT engineers didn''t stop there. Upgrades were developed to handle the 8.4-liter V-10''s increased horsepower and torque levels, while improving traction, driveability - and durability.


The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10''s V-10 channels its power through a new, smaller-diameter, twin-disc clutch (a change from the previous larger- diameter, single-disc setup). The new clutch reduces rotating inertia by 18 percent, resulting in reduced clutch-pedal effort and improved engagement feel.


The transmission is the latest evolution of the Tremec T56 six-speed manual, known as the TR6060. It features 10 percent wider gears for higher torque capacity and a new synchronizer package. A new shifter system results in reduced shifter travel. Club racers will applaud a new provision for adding an external transmission cooler.


Benchmark Braking


Stopping power is another key attribute of the Dodge Viper SRT10 formula, with 14-inch brake rotors gripped by Brembo 44/40 dual opposing piston calipers in the front and Brembo 42/38 dual opposing calipers in the rear. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) prevents lockup during hard braking. This system results in a benchmark braking performance of 60-to-0 mph in less than 100 feet.


World-class Ride and Handling


The ride and handling of the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 is defined by a race- bred, fully independent, four-wheel suspension, featuring lightweight, high- performance aluminum control arms and knuckles, damped by lightweight coil- over shock absorbers.


Where the power goes right to the road, SRT engineers retained the tried- and-true Dana M44-4 rear axle and outfitted it with a new GKN Visco-Lok speed- sensing limited-slip differential for improved traction.


The Dodge Viper SRT10 rides on polished, forged aluminum, 18 x 10-inch front and 19 x 13-inch rear wheels now available in three styles: the five- spoke, the H-spoke and the all-new Razor wheel with five U-shaped spokes. The wheels are clad in Michelin(R) Pilot(R) Sport PS2 tires. The four-groove tread-design tires provide maximum grip, reduced road noise and superior handling in both wet and dry conditions.


Bold Exterior Styling


The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 remains available in two body styles - Roadster and Coupe. Both feature a dramatic new hood with a larger, more efficient hood scoop for air induction and larger, functional hood louvers to facilitate a greater cooling effect for the more powerful 8.4-liter, 600-horsepower V-10 engine underneath.


Eight exterior colors will be introduced throughout the model year - five of which are all-new including Venom Red, Snakeskin Green, Viper Violet, Viper Orange and Bright Blue. Racing stripes continue to be an option with six dual painted stripe colors available: white, black, silver, graphite, blue and red.


Several exterior differences exist between the 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 Roadster and Coupe. In fact, the only body panels they share are front fascia and fenders, hood and doors. However, all of the iconic Viper SRT10 design cues have been maintained including the signature crosshair grille, deep-cut side scallops, swept-back fenders and lowered hood lines.


The Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe''s hard top with its "double bubble" styling makes it even more torsionally stiff than the Roadster. The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe offers increased downforce and high-speed stability with its sloping roofline and deck-lid spoiler. Plus, the Dodge Viper SRT10 Coupe has an additional 6.25 cubic feet of trunk space than the Viper SRT10 Roadster, for a total of 14.65 cubic feet. The roof and headliner structure offer more room to accommodate a safety cage, while maintaining as much headroom as possible.


Race-inspired Interior Design


The 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 Roadster and Coupe cockpit retains its characteristic red push-button starter and performance-oriented, highly functional instrument panel with center-mounted tachometer and 220-mph speedometer.


Five interior colors will be available in 2008: black, and four new color combinations in black/red, black/blue, black/slate or black/natural tan. A choice of bezel finishes on the center instrument panel and console adds to the increased level of customization.

Jaguar XKR: Headed For The Race Track

All-new Jaguar XKR is headed for the race track next year. The Jag is set to run in the FIA GT3 European Championship endurance series. In said racing competition, XKR will be competing against racing Porsche 911 and GT3 and Aston Martin DBR9.

Earlier, Apex Apex Motorsport has formulated all-new XKR GT3 in Jaguar factory. Stuart Dyble of Jaguar said, "There's a great buzz surrounding the XKR and this GT3 programme is going to reinforce the sporting credentials of the XK range. We're very pleased that Apex shares our view that its lightweight body structure is an ideal platform for the series." Dave Ward, team manager of the company added, "The basic all-aluminium chassis is already immensely rigid, so we're confident that with the addition of the roll cage it will be amongst the best in class."

Jaguar XKR interior parts GT3 incorporated the 4.2-litre supercharged V8, which boasts more than the ordinary car's 420bhp. Nevertheless, Apex is determined to increase power for more driving confidence and reliability. XKR GT3 is running in endurance races. Jaguar team intends to compete in all six championship events. Also, the car is also expected to race in Australian Grand Prix scheduled in March next year.

The very first test run for Jaguar's new race car will take place in December. It will be performed before the official FIA GT3 European Championship tests early next year. At present, Apex anticipates to build cars for several racing teams. The company is expected to supply a minimum of 6 XKR racers.

XKR GT3 comes from the XK series produced by Jaguar, a British automaker. It was introduced for the 1997 model year as a replacement of the XJS.

In the past, there are several limited-edition XKRs that have been manufactured to mark milestones in Jaguar history. The first was the 2001 XKR Silverstone that featured a platinum paint finish and custom interior. It was followed by XKR 100 in 2002. The car featured an anthracite paint finish,. Brembo brakes, 20-inch modular wheels and custom interior. Next to XKR 100 is the XKR Portfolio, which was built in 2004. Finally, a new milestone will be etched in the XKR Jaguar history and it is the coming of the XKR GT3. The car is expected to amaze the crown on the race track.

Jaguar XKR is ready to rumble in the 2007 race track. XKR GT3 is set to compete with high-endurance cars like Porsche 911 GT3 and Aston Martin DBR9.

Audi TT Goes Open Top

The second generation Audi TT is already on the loose. And this new one has been created and designed to be a roadster. If you do remember, the first Audi TT that came out in the year 2000 in the United Kingdom was created to be a coupe that held two doors. Now, as a roadster, this luxury sports car from the Audi brand would also be coming in with two doors as well.

Those car and sports car fanatics who were able to feast their eyes on this vehicle have come to say that the second generation Audi TT model has got many types of radical changes that are covered just right beneath its hood and its Audi performance parts. The construction of the vehicle has also been changed and the suspension technology has definitely been renewed so as to bring a total kind of performance for the vehicle. However, despite such changes, the classic Audi TT reputation as a luxury sports car is still found.

As per this new one, you would have to set aside some £26,915 just to be able to take one home. Orders for the vehicle would be open starting this November. The very first unit would be coming to the United Kingdom by next spring.

What Audi did so as to augment any changes that it did to the Audi TT was to actually keep the original cloth hood which is powered electrohydraulically. This one gives the vehicle the chance to save on some weight. And such a type of cloth hood is much lighter because it makes use of a new type of steel and aluminum for its support framework. Plus, it also works as a sound proof material.

Where does the power of the vehicle come from? Audi says that customers would have two options for its engine. One would be the 2.0 liter Turbo FSI petrol engine that can give the vehicle a boost of 200 PS. Or you can also opt to have the 3.2 liter V6 petrol engine that has the capacity to create 250 PS. Both are partnered with a six speed manual transmission. However, you can also opt to have an S tronic twin clutch automatic transmission but this one would ask you to spend a little more cash for it is only offered as an option.

Aston Martin Rapide - WOW



Another car which makes me feel tremble every time I see it is Aston Martin. So I'm interested in everything related to this wonderful car.



Aston Martin came under the auction hammer, but did not lose its face and pride. A four doors concept car Rapide, shown in Detroit, will go in the series production. British are planing to produce one or two thousand of this car per annum, thus, the total production amount of Aston Martin reaches 7,000 vehicles per year. Rapide will compete with Porsche Panamera, Quttroporte Maserati, Mercedes CLS and sedan, based on Spyker C12, if the last one appears indeed.



Ulrich Betz, who, regardless of the sale, still keeps his position as a head of the company, hinted that in the foreseeable future, a legendary model of Aston Martin, Vanquish, will find a decent replacement in the person of DBS, that one, which was used by James Bond in the last film.



It seems Ford Motor Company, which kept only 8% of the British company, will regret for it shortly.

Ferrari for $3000000


American director and producer James Glickenhaus, who made his fortune by the second class action movies, has spent three million dollars to purchase unique Ferrari.

The first step to learn about the purchase, American journalists asked the Glickenhausa whether he was sorry for that amount of money. The millionaire said that you won't be able to take three million dollars with you, when you die and he would like to enjoy the purchase here and now.

And indeed there is a lot to enjoy. The car, ordered by director was named Ferrari P4/5 and is Ferrari Enzo model, which appearance was fully reworkede by Pininfarina. The fact that Ferrari has no plans to issue more then four hundred copies of Enzo and that with this amount of production the car could be considered as collection car, did not appear too convincing for James, and he had paid three million American dollars for stylization of car's body to look like Ferrari model from the mid 60th of last century.

Enzo Ferrari - is an object of worship of many auto fans. It's one of the most famous super car of the planet, from a technical point of view and one of the fastest production cars now. Glickenhaus did not wish to make any changes in technical abilities of the original car, but there was a joke that the eccentric collector in a private conversation asked to increase the power 12-cylinder engine with 660 to 666 horsepower, perhaps in the hope to negotiate with a representative from the "other side" and take the car with them in otherworldly place.

Joke is a joke, but carbon body of the car changed very significantly. One of the conditions of the transaction was to create a completely original appearance. As a result, Ferrari P4/5 Pininfarina there aren’t any exterior details, which could be found on any, even on very rare series of Ferrari. Chopped brink Enzo were transformed to smooth contours of “consmic” design. Aerodynamics of the car was completed by Pininfarina in Turin, and developers say, that its aerodynamics is much better than the base model’s one. This is quite obvious, since the body has better aerodynamics, but also has much lighter weight, which is just 1,200 kilograms (165 kg lighter then Ferrari Enzo). A dynamic performance most was affected the most. Ferrari P4/5 Pininfarina accelerates to 100 km/h in just 3.55 seconds, and reaches maximum speed of 362 km/h. In comparison, acceleration of Enzo, is 3.65 seconds, and its maximum speed is 350 km/h.

Wizards from Pininfarina also improved interior of the car - mostly in the cockpit’s area. They also set up new exclusive seats and appliances with new scales. The first official car show scheduled for August, when he will participate in the contest elegance Workshop in California Pebbl-bic city. Glickenhaus which is not yet clearly describe the future of his car, I am confident of the victory of his car in the competition, and contends that if the competition between the Ferrari Enzo and Bugatti Veyron for both cars was a lot of fans, the same Ferrari P4/5 Pininfarina to date simply does not exist.
The owner of this, probably, the most expensive Ferrari insists that there aren’t any cars from this class, which could compete with his treasure.

Lamborghini Diablo is Coming Back


You've, probably, heard about Argentine businessman Geoana Ferchi, picked up by unknown ways the rights to use brand-name Lamborghini. Ferchi was going to build a new coupe based on Diablo, and is likely has started doing this, because, after only two weeks, the Argentine design office provided the first pictures of the machine.
But opinion of the automotive society about Alar has been divided into two parts, the first one is thinking that this is a disgusting monster and the second one is delighted with Ferichi's creation.

We don't want to take any part in these debates, and will just mention that the legendary Lamborghini will be equipped with 700 horse power engine. It's unclear yet whether it is going to ne Italian one, or not. Premiere of Lamborghini Alar will take place in Buenos Aires in the beginning of April. Appearance of Lamborghini Alar is very controversial, but we know for sure that it is very different from the original draft pictures.

BMW X6 is Coming Out...


BMW is planning to start production of X6 in 2008. Apparently, crossover will be based on X5's platform, and its extention will be more spacious, powerful and luxurious. The company hasn't provided any information regarding technical specification for this car. BMW reported in an official statement that production of the new SUV will take place in the United States, on a factory, based in South Carolina. Bavarian managers predict a good pace of sales of X6, especially in America, because his predecessor X5 has already forced mentioned factory, to increase production facilities.

Sbarro’s Turbo S20 Barchetta


A group of 20 students known from Sbarro design schools joined their forces to create a sport concept-car. Geneva show is “home” exhibition for Swiss studio, so they simply had to prove and show their achievements there. The car, which was given by students, a sophisticated and attractive body of Barchetta type(from Italian word "boat"), is driven by 5-litres V8 engine with 300h.p., from the classical Porsche 928. The car turned out to be not easy boy, but it promises an excellent controllability. By good traditions of all sport concepts, all of them always wear giant disks and modern tyres. This time, the students used 20 inches disks from OZ Botticelli and Michelin PS2 tyres. This nice car will hardly to be seen on race tracks or on public roads, but definitely Turbo S20 Barchetta is a vivid example of what the talented people can achieve, even with very limited funding.

New BMW M3


The view of this car, as well as its technical ability has been astonishing speed lovers for many years, so appearance of a new generation of BMW M3 will be a significant event for a large number of people. The only thing that can make life of the legendary car more complicated is increased competition in its class. Indeed, in addition to the perennial competitor, Audi RS4, capable to surprise even the most callous people, the new bomb of Geneva show, which I was writing about earlier, new Audi S5 will appear on the roads very shortly. But to be a real competitor it would need more letters in its name -RS5. But the new coupe from Audi is really magnificent, largely echoing Bavarian BMW 3 Coupe. It’s strange enough, but appearance of the new M3 completely different from the original car BMW 3 Coupe. In general, only things, which haven’t changed in comparison to the coupe, in the new M3 are just few details of the body, such as doors and front lights – everything else has been changed, making this car very beautiful and desirable.
Except of external view this car got a brand new engine. It’s the 3.2l V8 device. Creation of this new engine is a necessary measure. Previous M3 has 343hp and speeds up to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. But it’s not enough to beat the main competitor in the form of Audi RS4, with its capacity of 420hp and with just 4.8 seconds to 100 km/h. So, we are expecting a lot from this new model. Lets wait…

Bentley Brookland – Back To Future


Bentley couldn’t afford not to show anything on the famous motor salon in Geneva. A new great coupe, Brookland, was brought by British to Switzerland. It was named in honour of a racing track with the same name, where Bentley could afford to condescend to such kind of competitions. It’s very hard to speak about its appearance, because it hasn’t been changing significantly for many years.
In short word, Bentley, as Bentley, unless the exorbitant size, giant wheels, embittered air inlets, filling all the front bumper, and the lack of frames around the side windows, all of this, on fair belief of designers from Albion, are classical features of legendary sports cars of Britain from different ages.
So, lets talk about everything in the order. As to the sizes, then to characterize the scheme of Brookland’s interior as 2+2, you just won’t find a word, Shakil O’Neal and Kobi Brayant will easily fit the rear seats.
Huge wheels of Bentley gain from 20” disks. And windows without frames, are explained as a classical coupe tradition, which in the distant past wasn’t called coupe, but Gran Turismo and has exactly this type of windows.
Such a mastodon needs a very, very productive engine, so 6.75 litres V8 meets all the requirements. At least, 500h.p. and 1085 Nm is a serious request to get a right place in Bentley’s history of speed.
The British melancholy will be embodied only in 505 copies of Brookland, which, possibly, will make this model one of the most expensive cars all over the world.

Jaguar XKR Portfolio


Jaguar has brought to Geneva special edition of XKR, called XKR Portfolio. The name of the car hints at its bright appearance. And indeed, appearance of Jaguar is dandified - the sated black color with sparks of dark blue, aluminium fringings of air inlet cuts and 20" disks do their effective business in a right way.
Certainly, to emphasize the car, experts of the British brand had to give the most steadfast attention to interior. The best and more expensive were used to decorate it.
From functional additions XKR Portfolio gains from a multimedia LCD-monitor, displaying the basic information concerning to work conditions of the most important car's equipmentfor.
The value of audio-system Dolby Pro Logic II surround, humouring hearing of passengers with 525-watt sound, is impossible to underestimate. It was developed by Bower&Wilkes company, specially for Jaguar. Besides essential devices interior of XKR equipped with a lot of trifles, addressed to vanity of the owner, for example, tablets with Portfolio inscriptions or mats with trade marks of the manufacturer.
There is a brand new engine under a bonnet of the English handsome man, with which Jaguar is planning to equip restored XJ and XF series. Buyers haven't seen this engine yet, but engineers from the islands are very proud of it, probably, not vainly - 4.2-liter V8 makes 420 h.p. With such a power stuffing XKR Portfolio speeds up to 100 km/h for only 4.9 seconds and the maximal speed is limited to 250 km/h by uncompromising electronics.
So, Jaguar XKR Portfolio is a classical example of the big English coupe.

Redesigned Audi TT - Audi TT R8


And one more short news about Audi. Actually it's not exactly about Audi, but more about Ravasicorse design studio. Ravasicorse decided to use strong corporative design from Audi and created hybrid, based on Audi TT. The improvements don't relate to engine and other technical gadgets , but to the car's view. In this model they combined designs of Audi TT and of top model Audi R8. The main changes are related to huge plastic and ribbed air intake parts and elongated front and rear lights. The work of Ravasicorse studio is rather original, but I'm not sure whether it worthed to to change the view of Audi TT, which looks very good itself.

I was writing before about the most desirable car, at least for me, Audi A5. Finnaly this world has seen it on motor show in Geneva. It seems, thet the only niche, where Audi hasn't been represented by any of its models is filled. So, enjoy...

Opel GT Convertible - The Best Car of This Year


The most famous auto show, which is taking place in Geneva now declared Opel GT Convertible as the best car of this year. An international jury, which consist of journalists from over the world, gathered to look at the best news of automotive industry, were astonished by the new concept car from German concern, Opel GT, so they assigned to it this nomination. This car will go into serial production this spring, but it will be available only for European countries. It has a new 264 hose power SIDI-turbo engine and it takes just 5.7 seconds for this car to reach speed of 100 km/h. Maximum speed of this cabriolet is 250 km/h. Finally and the most interesting thing for us as consumers is its price. Recommended price of this car for some European countries will range from 30,675 euros.

The Most Expensive Luxury Car

The most expensive luxury car in the world is being created in the United States. It is going to cost $2 million and the name which it was given is Natalia SLS 2. In fact, the idea of such a vehicle, which will leave behind even magnificent Veyron (by the price, and as expected by Technical characteristics), came to Alfred Dimor’s head back in the 1970s, but he didn’t have any chance to realize it. But today (or it’s better to say tomorrow) 6 meter, with 4 doors sports sedan Natalia combines the most advanced automotive and computer technologies. It has got 14 liters V16, 1200 horse power engine, called "Volcano". It is also will be equipped with 60 on-board computers. They are going to be responsible for controlling all electronic systems of the car. To avoid problems with all those computers at the same time Natalia SLS 2 is using an aviation system of immediate disconnection of duplicate subsystems. Space technologies have found their right place in this luxury as well: super light materials, used in aerospace, intended to reduce the weight and fuel consumption.
And of cause you can’t imagine this Natasha without computer with Internet access and portable printer and without individual TV-monitors for passengers. Built into the car biosensors will be able to measure driver’s pulse, temperature, blood to adjust music volume, solon temperature and lighting, depending on the results. Creators didn’t forget about passengers on rear seats. The seats will be with embedded massage facilities. Color of upholstery will change completely independently: in cold times it will be black or dark blue, and when it’s warm it’ll become white. Natalia SLS 2 should appear on the market at the beginning of 2008 and first ten orders have been already signed. It’s planned to produce up to 50 car on the first year.

Audi A5 - a Brand New Coupe from Audi!

I am an addicted Audi fan, so I had to write something about new fabulous coupe from Audi – Audi A5.



We have been waiting for this car for a very long time. Last time we saw coupe from this company was 11 years ago. It was coupe 89 and that was it. And finally they are creating a brand new sport coupe, based on the next generation of Audi A4, which is a subject of serial production in November 2007.



This middle class coupe gained A5 index and will appear on the market in June 2008. There wasn’t much information on the Internet, but finally we saw some pictures of this treasure. This car will be equipped with 4l and 6l TFSI petrol or diesel TDI engines (power is vary from 177 up to 265 hp). As a transmission for Audi A5 selected adaptive automatic gearbox with DSG clutch.



Now we just need to wait for more detailed specification and for the most interesting information, the Price!

BMW M5 from Lumma Design Studio


Luma Design studio created absolutely new model of BMW M5 series.
Substantial Wide Body Kit, combined with 21" wheels, creates a bit horrifying impression. Discs were by low-profile tires from Yokohama - 255/30 front and 295/25 rear accordingly. On the rear view you can see pair of huge 'guns' instead of standard exhaust system. To make this monster lighter the top of it was made of carbon. Hood, roof and trunk are made of this super light material. Other parts were simply painted in a rich orange color.
Standard 500 horse powere V10 engine was slightly improved, which increased the output power up to 560 horses. There are a lot of other changes, which are making this beauty unique and desirable.
So, looking forward seeing it on the show in Geneva.
